Benefits of incorporating pulses into grain production
Aaron Flansburg is a fifth-generation farmer in Palouse, WA, whose grain-based cropping system has been under long-term no-till management. Flansburg Farm incorporates pulses into their grain rotations for crop diversification, soil building, and pest management. Fifty acres of Flansburg Farm is currently certified organic, with another 110 in transition to organic at this Farmwalk, Aaron described his journey learning about managing weeds in organic grain systems, incorporating cover crops, and alternative marketing of his organic and heirloom, grains and pulses.
